Overview
This course aims to develop a broad understanding of sports coaching and professional skills relevant to the future workplace. You will focus on developing performance aligned to athlete development through the study and application of exercise physiology, psychology, motor skill development, and coaching theory. You will have the opportunity to complete work-related experience through local and regional links with sports clubs, public and private fitness centres, gyms, and schools.
The Certificate of Higher Education in Sports Coaching offers you the opportunity to attain a Level 4 Higher Technical Qualification in Sports Coaching, a new type of qualification that is industry-led and aligned to employer-designed standards. This means you will leave with the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required by future employers. The one-year course of study also provides you with greater flexibility compared to a two-year foundation course or three-year degree. After completing the course, you will have the option to join Level 5 BSc (Hons) in Sports Coaching and Physical Education if you wish to continue your studies further.
