This short course is designed for nursing staff and allied health professionals who are caring for patients who are undergoing systemic antic cancer treatment (SACT/Chemotherapy).
The course covers the anatomy and physiology of cell biology and cancer, exploring how it develops in the body. It will then examine and explore many of the anti-cancer treatments available to patients, their uses and side effects, including cytotoxic chemotherapy/monoclonal antibodies/targeted therapy etc. It will also include wider exploration of holistic care, and the impact of these treatments on the patients and their families. This is the only course of its kind in the Northern Region which is face to face.
This is an 8 week programme, taught on campus by a mixture of University Lecturers and Health Care Professionals working in oncology and associated areas, across the region.
