Overview
This short course in investigation will allow you to gain the skills required to plan and conduct suspect interviews for serious, complex and major investigations. You'll consider the elements needed for planning interviews, including analysing information and formulating a written plan, as well as how to conduct an effect interview by learning how to engage with the suspect and utilise appropriate techniques. You'll also examine post-interview procedures and ways of evaluating the interview in respect of the overall investigation, as well as your own performance, the practicalities of the role, and others with whom you'll need to engage with during the process.
Throughout the module, you'll be introduced to structures designed to support the development of the interview plan and explore how to maximise the quality and quantity of information obtained from suspects.
You're required to attend university for face-to-face teaching sessions for all three days at your chosen location. The remainder of your learning will consist of self-directed study and work-based learning, although you will have access to materials and your Programme Leaders throughout the duration of the course.
