Master the building blocks of audio storytelling. Learn scripting, interviewing, and editing skills while understanding your audience. Plan and create your podcast pilot episode.
This masterclass is tailor-made to offer an overview of aspects of podcasting and creative audio production, whether you have already started on this journey and are looking to enhance your skills, or are just starting out.
With industry-ready recording studios situated on campus, this course offers access to a range of professional standard equipment, offering a quick-fire but thorough experience across a range of aspects of audio and podcast production.
Our lead tutor Jay Sykes is actively involved in the audio industry. This year alone, he has produced two programmes for BBC Radio 4; the audio drama ‘William’s Castle’, and the audio documentary ‘Vessels of Memory: Glass Ships of Sunderland’. Jay has previously worked on building podcasting strategies and productions with New Writing North, Stand Alone, Mind, Changing Relations, Pink Collar Gallery, and the newly launched ‘Culture House Podcast’ in partnership with Sunderland City Council.
Across the course, you’ll work on planning and creating your own podcast pilot episode.
Through a combination of listening, discussing, resources, and hands-on experience with recording and editing tech, you will build your podcast brand idea, and develop your pilot episode from the ground up.
Sessions will run over four weeks on Tuesday 6, 13, 20, and 27 August 2024.
