Across the course you’ll learn about the building blocks of writing, directing, and editing audio drama. You'll study through a combination of listening, discussing, writing activities, and hands-on experience with recording and editing tech. Taking all these skills forwards, you will then write, record, and produce your own short audio drama.
This course is tailor-made for writers and storytellers who are interested in exploring the medium of audio drama for the first time. Equally, this course is suitable for anyone interested in storytelling and audio production, and who would benefit from a two-day taster to get started on that journey.
With industry-ready recording studios situated on campus, this course offers access to a range of professional standard equipment, offering a quick-fire but thorough experience across a range of aspects of audio and podcast production
Day one covers the basics of audio drama writing, directing, performing, and editing with Adobe Audition. After a series of short discussions and writing activities, you'll use pre-written scripts in the audio drama studios to experience performing, directing, and recording in action.
Between days one and two, you'll have the opportunity to write your own short audio drama script, which you'll record in the audio drama studio. This will be an intense day of acting, directing, and recording, followed by developing your audio drama editing craft.
