NHS Learning Support Fund

The government has announced it will provide additional funding from the NHS Learning Support Fund. This will support home students starting Paramedic Science, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy courses.

The new package includes:

  • training grant of £5,000 per year (for new and continuing students)
  • parental support payment of £2,000 per student per year to help with childcare costs
  • a regional incentive payment of £1,000 per year for students studying in certain regions of the country (further details will be announced in due course) (for new students only)
  • help towards additional travel and accommodation costs to clinical placements over your normal daily travel costs
  • an exceptional hardship fund of up to £3,000 per student per academic year

The Learning Support Fund is provided by The NHS Business Services Authority.

Please note, if you are interested in applying for BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science and Out of Hospital Care and already hold a degree, you will not qualify for this grant.

Scholarships and Bursaries

You may also qualify for additional funding help in addition to the NHS Learning Support Fund. Visit scholarships and bursaries to see if you are eligible for financial aid.

Our generous scholarships and bursaries are financial awards that do not have to be paid back. Through our scholarships, we recognise and reward the academic achievements of our students, or the promise they show in a specific subject area. Some scholarships are linked to courses or philanthropic donors. Through our bursaries we support students from groups underrepresented in higher education, who we identify as being in most financial need.
