The PgCert in Professional Development for International Early Career Teachers will allow you to develop your skills, knowledge, and pedagogy to make the effective transition from novice to expert teacher. The course offers opportunities to enhance your professional identity whilst critically examining discrete areas of practice and subject specialisms, with the aim to accelerate your career and expertise.
The course has been designed in response to the global teacher recruitment crisis and the need to employ and retain recently qualified or 'novice' teachers. The aim of this PgCert is to facilitate your development and equip you with the tools you need to bridge this gap.
The PgCert is studied via distance learning to ensure that early career teachers are able to engage independently with the content whilst balancing teaching and workload responsibilities.
You'll have access to the University's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which will give you access to all necessary resources, including journals, e-books, and audio-visual content.
The course will be delivered asynchronously with some 'live' and pre-recorded content, as well as micro-lectures, discussion forums, and a range of other learning activities that encourage the formation of a community of practice.
A range of formative and summative assessments will be used such as coursework, presentations, and an action research project that focuses on reflecting and developing your practice.

We usually require applicants to hold an honours degree or equivalent. Qualifications gained outside the UK will be equivalency checked.
You need to have a teaching qualification and be employed in an international school.
Applicants whose first language isn't English must achieve a minimum IELTS band score of 6.5, with 6.5 in writing, and no less than 6 in Reading, Speaking and Listening.
The fee for this course is £2,500.

This course provides you with a highly respected qualification from a UK institution, which will boost your employability in an international context.
On successful completion of the course you can progress onto the MA Education or MA International Education, which are also available to study via distance learning.
