Events for offer holders and applicants

We’ll be hosting events for offer holders and applicants throughout the year. You’ll be invited to these events via email, so don’t forget to check your inbox.

Upcoming events include our on-campus Offer Holder Day, an online event about the cost of living, and a chance to learn more about our city and university in one catch-all event – 'Spotlight on Sunderland'. Full details, including dates and times, are coming soon...

Offer Holder Day

Taking place on Saturday 15 March, this is an exclusive invite-only event for those who hold an offer with us for September 2025.

You'll get the opportunity to take part in an exciting subject workshop and get a real feel for the course. You’ll meet our friendly lecturers and other students with the same interests. Take in our wonderful campus facilities and check out our student accommodation if you’re thinking of living with us.

We’ll also be showing you where your degree can take you in the employment world, and will provide access to a host of services that can offer support and advice.

Cost of living event

The cost of living continues to bring great concern to families and young people looking to make their way in the world. For some, this means juggling these concerns with being a full-time student.

Things to consider:

  • The average prices in the city you are studying in
  • University cost-saving offerings, such as free campus buses and discounts
  • Student accommodation prices and benefits (if living away from home)
  • How to food shop
  • Where to socialise

Are you aware of how degrees are actually financed and then deducted from salaries? It’s possibly less way less scary than you think.

Join us for this online session to explore the topic of affordability at the University of Sunderland.

We'll also give an overview of student finance for 25/26 entry and allow you to explore what other financial support may be available from the University while you study.

Spotlight on Sunderland

Whether you're local and want to know more about campus activities, or are new to the area, this online event will be quick, snappy, and informative. There’ll also be a chance to ask any questions you may have.

The University of Sunderland was recently named University of the Year for Student Support (Daily Mail University Guide 2025). We’ll introduce you to some of the services that back this award up, including the Wellbeing Team and Disability Team, and hear from current students on how accessible their lecturers are while studying.

But it’s not all about the academic requirements – we’ll also discuss the city’s location and social offerings, and look at events put on by the Students' Union and Team Sunderland.

Meet and Greet events

This on-campus event gives you the opportunity to meet with your teaching team and current students on an informal and relaxing level. This is your chance to ask any questions you may have about the course and meet your future classmates.

Depending on the course you have applied for, there may be the option for you to take part in an optional classroom activity session, though these events are designed to help ease you into your new surroundings and make you feel comfortable and confident about your choice of study.

These events will run in April and May 2025, so keep an eye out for more details coming soon.
