Reasons to come to our Offer Holder Day

Our Offers Holder Days are exclusive to anyone who has an offer to study an undergraduate degree with us. It’s your chance to get a taste of what life at Sunderland is really like.

Our Offer Holder Days are so much more than an Open Day, so even if you've already visited us on campus, it’s still worth coming along. Here are just a few of our top reasons why you should join us for an Offer Holder Day:

1. Get engaged with your subject

Depending on which undergraduate course you've applied for, you’ll take part in an interactive taster session, gaining insight into what your course is like and meeting our friendly lecturers. There'll also be current students on hand so you can ask them any questions you might have.

2. Take a look at our amazing facilities

You’ll get the chance to look around our campuses and see all the amazing facilities for yourself. We even offer a separate tour for any parents or supporters who come with you. We’re proud of our incredible facilities and we think you’ll be impressed! Depending on the campus you're at, keep an eye out for:

  • The Cinema – recently refurbished and upgraded, it's home to 120 seats, a top of the range laser projector, and a Dolby Atmos sound system
  • David Goldman Technology Centre – see our computing and engineering equipment and visit the home of the Northern Centre of Photography
  • The Living Lab and Helen McArdle House – check out the mock hospital wards and simulation suites
  • Our Anatomy Centre – featuring exciting medical facilities such as our anatomage table
  • CitySpace – visit the brand new home of our Students' Union, or explore the gym and book a free session for a future date.

3. Claim back some of your travel costs

Once you've checked into the Offer Holder Day, you'll be able to claim back some travel expenses on the day. Depending on where you live, this can be up to £100. Make sure you read the terms and conditions to find out what you're entitled to, but make sure you don't miss out!

4. View our accommodation

If you’re planning to move away from home, you’ll want to see the student accommodation we have to offer. We provide tours to Panns Bank, Scotia Quay, and The Precinct, depending on which campus you're based at on the day. All sites are self-catered with fully equipped kitchens and onsite cashless laundry facilities. You'll need to book your tour in advance and we’ll send you details on how to do this with your invite.

5. Explore our fantastic city

If you're coming from further afield and aren't familiar with what Sunderland has to offer, take the time to explore our city, because after all, it could be somewhere you're calling home for the next few years. Take a walk around Mowbray Park or along the beach, or grab a bite to eat at one of the many cafés and restaurants in the city centre.

You'll soon see why our students love living in Sunderland!

6. Learn more about student finance and scholarships

Find out more about what student finance you could be eligible for, including the undergraduate scholarships and bursaries we offer. Our Student Finance team have their own stand at this event, so you can speak to them directly and they'll answer any questions you might have.
