I came to university for self-development and career progression through further studies. I was previously practicing as a pharmacist in my home country but felt the need to do more by positively impacting my community through health education. I embarked on the MSc Public Health course as I knew it would equip me with the necessary knowledge and skills required to improve the health and overall quality of life of the population. I chose to study at the University of Sunderland because of its comparatively affordable tuition fees, high-quality teaching and excellent educational facilities which represent good value for money. The University also has good cultural diversity as a result of its large international community.
The most interesting aspect of the course is the diversity of the professional backgrounds of the students enrolled on the course. This makes for a varied perspective during classes which I find fascinating. In addition, the lecturers are ever willing to be of help when called upon.
I would definitely recommend the University of Sunderland to prospective students. I would advise that they come prepared with a mindset to work hard in order to achieve their set goals and also keep in mind the level of independence expected from postgraduate students.
Once I complete the course I plan to progress to a PhD and eventually explore a career in academia and healthcare consulting.
Simply put, my experience at the University of Sunderland has been rewarding and a worthwhile journey.”
