Case Study

Rebecca May

Jarrow, UK

LLB (Hons) Law

Rebecca May has always known she wanted a career in law and decided to study at Sunderland due to the incredible support we offer. During her time here, Rebecca has represented the University of Sunderland in the regional finals of the Client Interviewing Competition and is also representing the University at the Oxford University Press Moot Competition.

The University of Sunderland originally appealed to me due to the ease of accessing the Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's, however what really sold it for me was the incredible support that is offered, from friendly, accommodating staff to an excellent range of scholarships. I have always known that I wanted to have a career in law and that attending a university with such an impressive Law Clinic would provide me with the best start on my career path.

The standard of teaching at Sunderland is unbeatable. The lecturers truly go above and beyond, happily spending time ensuring students are supported not only academically but also in their extra-curricular activities. I could not be any more thankful to them.

The extra-curricular activities are phenomenal experiences that I highly recommend others to take part in; from Mock Trials to the fantastic Law Journal, there is something for everyone. I have been fortunate enough to attend Lincolns Inn and dine amongst Supreme Court Judges and Barristers. I won the internal Client Interviewing Competition and represented the University in the Regional Finals. I was also able to Moot in the internal Competition at the Supreme Court in London and will be representing the University at the Oxford University Press Moot Competition.

I would happily recommend the University of Sunderland to other students. From teaching to facilities, Sunderland really is a fantastic place to study. It has been an enriching and memorable experience."
