I am currently a Stylist at an activewear and accessories brand called Gymshark where I style new product campaigns as well as imagery for the e-commerce website and App. My styling is used across the brand’s social media channels and on its blog, Gymshark Central. This position means that I travel nationally and internationally to help produce content for the Gymshark brand.
I believe my degree was invaluable in helping me land this amazing role. Both the HR department and my manager at my current company have said that my fashion journalism background was one of the factors that definitely made me stand out amongst other applicants, as they were looking for a stylist who would help with the future development of the blog’s style pieces as well as the usual work on campaigns.
The work I produced on my course and the many internships I undertook during my time at university also played a key role in securing this position. As part of the degree, we were strongly encouraged to look for experience to further our knowledge of the industries we hoped to one day work in. This allowed me to have a strong portfolio of work to show at interviews and meant that I graduated with professional connections.
Our programme leader knew the ins and outs of the industry so there was always someone to continually guide us."
