I always wanted to go to university. As a young teenager I battled with severe anxiety and thought that this would restrict me from fulfilling my wishes. However, as time went on and I learned to deal with these feelings I started to become more open to the idea of applying. I chose to study at the University of Sunderland because the campuses seemed nice and all the staff at the Open Days I attended were so welcoming. Once I found the right course for me, I knew it was where I wanted to partake in my studies. I’m now in my second year and all my tutors have been really supportive and helped me along the way so I can succeed in the way I always knew I could.
My favourite part of the Social Media Management BA course is exploring the world of PR, learning how to write press releases and learning the differences between good PR and bad PR. It has really opened my mind to the possibility of a career in the field.
While we’ve been learning online during the Covid-19 pandemic we’ve been using Microsoft Teams for teaching. I’ve found it less distracting doing classes from home, however it’s not always easy to have something explained to you online as it is in person. But I’ve been keeping in touch with my classmates through group chats and private messaging which helps with socialising.
If I could sum up my experience at the University of Sunderland so far it would be eye opening and rewarding.”
