The main reason I wanted to start a university degree was to improve myself, learn more things and have more chances to find a better job after I graduate. The University of Sunderland was my first choice because I live locally and it’s easy for me to attend.
I studied a foundation year in Business and Marketing Management and learned how important Social Media is in the world of business, and that a lot of companies need people to manage their social media platforms. I therefore changed courses to BA (Hons) Social Media Management.
My favourite part of the course is the fact it has a wide variety of modules from fashion, journalism and media law. I found the transition to online teaching unusual but at the same time I felt grateful that I could spend more time with my daughter. The platform we use for our online classes is called Microsoft Teams and I keep in touch with my classmates through Facebook, on a group chat where we discuss our homework and other relevant topics to the course.
I’m very fortunate to benefit from all the support that the University offers, such as access to the library, job coaching, wellbeing support and access to the latest camera equipment. I have found the whole experience of being a student at the University of Sunderland very pleasant.”
