I chose to study at Sunderland as I wanted to stay close to home, also my A-Levels didn’t go to plan so the University of Sunderland gave me the chance to do a foundation year before progressing onto my chosen course. I came to an open day which made my decision final as the staff were really friendly and enthusiastic.
I first got interested in engineering when I was at secondary school. I enjoyed maths, physics and was always really interested in how things work so decided to follow a career path into engineering.
The best aspects of the course are that the lecturers are so approachable and always willing to help with any issues you may have whether that’s relating to coursework or exam revision. The lectures are interesting and the work is challenging.
Make the most of your time at the University because it goes over so quickly, I’ve been at the University five years and it feels like five minutes since I started! Also, work hard and most importantly believe in yourself.
I feel like I’ve had a really positive experience at the University and that’s mostly thanks to the lecturers and other students that have been around me throughout my time at Sunderland. It’s been very enjoyable."
