Interested in getting into the tourism and hospitality industry? Studying at the University of Sunderland  will allow you to see the world, learn from key industry figures and get the real-life experience you need, along with much more.

We’re taking a look at some of the things we offer to our students to ensure you get the most out of your degree.

Why study at the University of Sunderland?

We pride ourselves on offering tremendous levels of support to our students at the University. Our staff members are dedicated to answering any of your questions and are available over the phone, by email, in-person, and online.

We’ve been delivering a range of tourism courses at the University for many years, and we’re delighted to have our hospitality and leisure management courses globally recognised by being ranked in the 2022 QS World University Rankings.

Over the years, we’ve tailored our curriculum to make sure that you graduate with the experience you need to advance your career. This is why, as part of your degree, you’ll have field trip opportunities both in the UK and overseas, and exciting guest speakers from the industry are invited to share their knowledge.

Field trips

Field trips are an invaluable part of your studying, as they’ll give you the opportunity to learn more about your field outside the classroom. We incorporate visits to local businesses and attractions, along with field trips across the UK and abroad. In the past, our students have been to New York, Barcelona, Hong Kong, and Rome to name a few.

Out in the field, you’ll gain plenty of practical knowledge by visiting tourism and events companies and you’ll get an insight into how the industry operates.

“My favourite part of the course would have to be the Events Fieldwork module, which consisted of a research trip to New York City. Being able to combine research with a trip to one of the world’s most iconic cities really was an amazing opportunity.”
