Participations: Participatory approaches to Research and Practice Network
The Participations Interdisciplinary Research Network has two main thematic areas: participatory research methodologies and participatory practice and action based research.
Aims
The network aims are:
Establish University of Sunderland as a centre of excellence for participatory research practice
Facilitate the formation of interdisciplinary research teams involving both experienced and Early Career researchers (ECRs)
Develop and support a community of practice in this interdisciplinary area
Share work taking place across the university and identify what we can learn from each other across disciplines, and across theory, practice and pedagogy
Identify fruitful areas for collaboration and funding bids that foreground participatory research and methods
Find practical and pragmatic ways to support staff to write and submit successful interdisciplinary bids
Discuss areas of mutual interest, e.g. how do we navigate the ethical issues raised by such research and practice? What does it mean to work in a participatory way? What are the implications for our research and practice and the way we manage research projects and work with each other and outside organisations? How can such research be effectively fed back into learning and teaching through Faculty and CELT activities?
