An alumna from the University of Sunderland has been named a finalist in this year’s prestigious British Council Alumni Awards in Uzbekistan.
Graduating in 2022, Aleksandra Lee, is now a brand manager for LLC East West Invest responsible for designing and creating packaging for a variety of products.
Aleksandra’s recent work on redesigning the packaging for local crisp brand Cheers has seen her named as a finalist for the Culture and Creativity award by the Uzbekistan Alumni Awards.
The Culture and Creativity Award recognises university alumni who have flourished in their careers in the arts and culture sector, demonstrating their artistic ingenuity and creativity in their work.
Aleksandra, who studied Fashion Product and Promotion at the University, said: “Being named a finalist in the Alumni Awards 2025 is truly an honour.
“It’s a recognition of my dedication, passion and the hard work I’ve put into my career. It also highlights the value of the education I received at the University, which gave me the foundation to succeed in such a competitive industry.”
Using the skills that she learned while at the University, Aleksandra combined her love for fashion, marketing and creativity in her career, leading on projects that innovate the brands she works on.
Aleksandra said: “The University played a core role in shaping my career. Its strong emphasis on creativity, marketing learning, and business acumen helped me understand how to successfully connect both the creativity and strategic sides, which is crucial in my role as a brand manager.”
Aleksandra is just one of the many alumni who are part of the University’s Alumni Association, a global network of former students who all studied in Sunderland, London and abroad.
Georgie Cox, Head of Development and Alumni at the University, said: “We are thrilled to celebrate our alumna Aleksandra as a finalist in the British Council Alumni Awards.
“Her achievements exemplify the lasting impact of a UK education from the University of Sunderland. We are proud of the remarkable contributions she has made in her field, driven by the inspiration and foundation gained during her studies in the UK.”
Reflecting on her time at the University, Aleksandra added: “If you’re considering studying at the University of Sunderland, I would highly recommend it. The University's focus on preparing students for real-world challenges will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to achieve success.
