Students and staff at the University of Sunderland hosted an overnight live broadcast to mark the 2024 General election.

Spark, the University’s community radio station, saw student volunteers bring live results to the city of Sunderland starting from 10pm when polls closed.

Journalism students also had the opportunity to cover election counts across the region for regional press.

The eight-hour overnight election coverage carried on throughout the night, with live coverage from election counts from across Tyne and Wear.
