The University of Sunderland is celebrating after winning a silver award at a ceremony dubbed the ‘Higher Education Oscars’.
The University received the honour for Best Open Day Experience at the HEIST Awards 2020 which recognises the most hardworking HE marketing and recruitment teams in the UK.
The annual HEIST - Higher Education Information Services Trust - event celebrates excellence in marketing, public relations and advertising for universities and colleges across the UK. This year’s celebration was online.
Francesca Carey, Director of Home Student Recruitment at the University, said: “This Silver Heist Award for ‘Best Open Day Experience’ recognises that we are a team of innovators who are proud to be an example of best practice in the sector.
“At the University of Sunderland, we know how important it is for our prospective students to get a feel for their chosen course, the campus, and crucially, the staff who will be teaching and supporting them through their time at university.
“We have worked to continuously improve attendance at our recruitment events, by removing some of the barriers that we know exist for many students, and to develop the experience when students and their supporters reach us, in order to offer access all areas and a personalised, inclusive, approach.
“Back in March, we had more planned, but had to rethink our plans in order to translate them into the digital world. This work has evolved at pace, and we are confident that our online events also offer prospective students an opportunity to really find out how it feels to join our professions-facing, society-shaping community at the University of Sunderland.”
For 30 years, the HEIST Awards have been synonymous with excellence and innovation in education marketing. They are a time for celebrating the absolute best of the HE sector, recognizing hardworking marketing teams across the country.
