The University of Sunderland’s summer graduation celebrations will be happening in-person over two weeks in July 2022.
What's going on?
The University will this summer hold its graduation ceremonies over two-weeks in July. So get ready to celebrate.
Why is this happening?
We want to give all those students who missed out on in-person graduation ceremonies during the pandemic the chance to come back and celebrate with their friends and family - and, of course, we also want to recognise the Class of 2022 as well.
So, where will I be graduating?
We are returning, once again, to Sunderland's Stadium of Light for the event(s).
When is it all happening?
So, we have planned graduation ceremonies for the week beginning Monday, 4 July and Monday, 11 July.
So, which week is my ceremony?
Well, it will depend on which year you graduated:
On the week beginning July 4th there will catch-up ceremonies for students from the summer of 2020, the winter of 2020, and the summer of 2021.
The Class of 2022 will graduate in the week beginning 11 July.
Ok, so I missed my face-to-face graduation and want to be part of the catch-up week
The closing date for this has now passed.
Great, how do I know if I'm eligible to attend the catch-up ceremonies?
So, you're are eligible to book if you would have graduated in the summer of 2020, the winter of 2020, and the summer of 2021 AND studied on the Sunderland Campus or at a local FE college partner, or on an Independent Distance Learning programme.
The University’s London campus is running its own catch-up ceremonies.
We are not able to offer applications to students who studied at a partner of the University outside the UK. Those partner institutions hold their own celebrations that graduates can attend.
But I haven't received my invitation?
Those who signed up to attend have now been sent an invitation, if you’ve not received this then please contact us.

How long does each ceremony take?
