The University's newest promotional film has been shortlisted for not one – but two prestigious national awards.
The film 'Think Sunderland' has been nominated for Best Branded Programme at the Brand Film Awards EMEA 2022 (the awards scheme from PRWeek and Campaign), alongside major national and international brands, companies and charity organisations, including the NHS, Mercedes Formula One Team, Prime Video, Nikon, Helly Hansen, Cancer UK, Virgin Media, Astra Zeneca and UEFA.
The film has also been shortlisted for the Online Video / Film Advert category at The Drum Roses Awards 2022, which celebrates the best creative work and talent from regions outside of London.
‘Think Sunderland’ celebrates our career-focused courses, top quality facilities, inclusive and welcoming culture - and everything the city has to offer.
The video is voiced by Lauren Laverne, host of the BBC Radio 6 Breakfast Show and Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, and an Honorary Graduate of the University, and also features BBC Radio 1 presenter and Sunderland graduate Jordan North.
Jane Oswald, Head of Marketing Strategy (External Relations) at the University of Sunderland, said: “Our new brand film is a conscious departure from the standardised approach of “uni hero films”.
“We chose to shout less about ourselves and more about our students – specifically where they go after they graduate. After all, they come to us with a final destination in mind. We wanted it to be human, real and open, with an emotional heart, rather than simply a roster of facilities and empowering phrases.
“To be nominated for two national awards within the very competitive creative sector shows that we have achieved the differentiation we wanted”
The winners of the Brand Film Awards EMEA 2022 will be announced on 27 April in London.
The Drum Roses Awards 2022 will be held virtually on 25 May.
