Great northern radio talent, Jordan North returned to the University to inspire students to pursue their dreams in the media industry.
Jordan, who found his interest for radio at Spark, and graduated BA Media Production in 2011, has worked for Rock FM, The Hits and Capital Manchester.
Jordan is now the regular cover presenter for BBC Radio 1, and can be heard sitting in for Matt Edmondson, Alice Levine and the Early Breakfast show.
During his masterclass, Jordan focused on developing your creative skills as a radio presenter. He also stressed the importance of preparing your radio show, creating entertaining features and that persistence is key to getting your name heard in the creative industry.
A work experience student at The University of Sunderland, Beth, said: “I really enjoyed Jordan North’s Q & A session at The University of Sunderland, what a hilarious and hardworking man, very inspired!”
Jordan also gave ten students the chance to get feedback on their radio demos during the afternoon. He gave positive and constructive feedback and gave every student a listening diary so that they could develop their on air sound.
The volunteers at Spark were overwhelmed by the generosity of Jordan’s guidance and said that the Q & A session, demo feedback and masterclass was definitely worthwhile.
His honesty and creative drive inspired the students at the University of Sunderland to continue their radio dreams and university experiences.
