Congratulations to graduate and glass maker James Maskrey, who has been selected as one of only six makers in the ‘Winner’s Lounge’ of the Arts and Crafts Design awards. 

James, who gained his MA Glass from the University in 2005, is a Senior Technician, supporting the delivery of BA (Hons) Artist Designer Maker: Glass and Ceramics and MA Glass and Ceramics.

His work has been widely exhibited internationally and has been included in many public and private collections including The Victoria and Albert Museum, The National Museum of Scotland and The Crafts Council.

The judges made their selection from 158 nominations from 36 different nations. 
 
Judges said: "To be nominated for the Arts & Crafts Design Award is a great achievement and a proof of fantastic artistic quality of the nominated artist. The carefully pre-selected Group of Nominees is an exclusive circle of artists, with outstanding talent and excellent craftsmanship. All of them are representing in a marvellous way the ideas of the Arts & Crafts Design Award and we are very proud to organize such a high quality event.  

“The artworks of each one of them absolutely represents: ART, CRAFT & DESIGN with outstanding creativity, breathtaking originality, unique production-technique & matchless artistic quality. In the process of the winner selection the goal is always to make sure that all of the respective subjective impressions and opinions of the individual jury members are included in an objective overall assessment."
