University students got the chance to talk with the Shadow Secretary of State for Education when she paid a visit to Murray Health on City Campus this week.
Bridget Phillipson, MP for Houghton and Sunderland South since 2010, was on campus to get an update on developments at the School of Medicine and hear all about work happening within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing.
The MP arrived less than two weeks after the University officially renamed the former Murray Library on Chester Road, Murray Health, reflecting the faculty’s growing importance in training the health professionals of the future. The School of Medicine was established at the University in 2019, with its first cohort due to graduate this summer. The MP was also given a tour of the University’s Anatomy Centre which opened in early 2022 to support the medical school.
