Join us for a compelling and thought-provoking debate on one of the most complex ethical issues of our time – euthanasia.
This event, hosted by the School of Law, invites Year 13 students to dive into the controversial topic of legal euthanasia in the UK. Students will have the unique opportunity to step into the role of advocates, representing both sides of the argument as they explore the legal, moral, and societal implications of this issue.
About the debate:
The debate will see students split into two teams, with each team assigned to argue either for or against the legalisation of euthanasia in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for young minds to develop key skills in critical thinking, research, and public speaking while tackling an issue with real-world significance. Teams will have time to prepare their arguments, and each side will present its case in our purpose-built mock courtroom.
What you'll gain:
- Insight into the legal and ethical considerations surrounding euthanasia
- Improved debate, research, and analytical skills
- A chance to experience a university-level debate environment
- Feedback from experienced university staff in the fields of law and ethics
How to participate:
This event is open to Year 13 students with an interest in Law and Social Sciences at undergraduate level. No prior debate experience is necessary.
