Why attend?
Whether you’re passionate about programming or intrigued by the future of technology, this event will help you make an informed decision about your university choices. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of our course offerings and the potential career paths you could pursue with a degree in Computer Science. Workshops on offer on the day include:
AI Sweetie Sorter
This interactive session will introduce you to the basics of machine learning, allowing you to train your own AI models in real time. You’ll use a webcam to capture a variety of images and see firsthand how AI can learn to recognise and classify them.
Hacker Tracker
Students will use Open Source Intelligence (info you can find freely online if you know where to look) to track the whereabouts of a hacker and stop a deal going down before it’s too late. This workshop is built around a fictional scenario with a little bit of humour thrown in too.
Cannon Fodder
Learn the basics of Unity development and C# programming in this intense session where your students will code a 3D cannon to launch balls, crash test dummies, and even other cannons. Have them fly through the air, smashing through breakable boxes and tallying points.
Who should attend?
This event is ideal for Year 13 students who are considering studying Computer Science or a related discipline at university. Teachers are welcome to book multiple places for their students, or individuals can register for the event if they aren’t coming with a school or college group.
