Hello, my name is Ying, and I am a Third Year MPharm student at the University of Sunderland. To those who are interested in knowing more about the Pharmacy course offered by our university, this is the article for you.

Here are the top five reasons why I chose Sunderland to study Pharmacy at:

100 Years of History and Experience
The School of Pharmacy at the University of Sunderland was founded back in the year 1921 and has since been providing Pharmacy education till now. The MPharm course has been remodeled and refurbished constantly according to current guidelines to allow delivery of top-notch education quality for the students. After all, we are talking about 100 years of experience!

Top School in the GPhC Registration Assessment
We are proud to appear as a Top Performing School of Pharmacy in the UK in the GPhC Registration Assessment for 6 years in a row. This is owed to the fact that students are extensively trained to apply what we learn into case studies. Clinical seminars and clinical practice sessions are also designed to allow us to understand the topic better.

Well-designed Course Structure
The MPharm course is specially designed to include all aspects of knowledge and skills needed as a future Qualified Pharmacist. These include clinical practice, clinical examination, communication, placement opportunities, lab sessions, over the counter (OTC) practice, and pharmacy practice. Besides, the learning objectives for each semester are systematically planned out to allow students a better grasp at the topics.

Incorporation of Placements
Students are given placement opportunities throughout all four years of the course. The objective is to expose students to the real practice world as early as possible in order to integrate what students have learned from uni into real life. Each year, students get to go onto placements at community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, General Practice, specialist sectors etc.

5-star Experience as a Pharmacy Student
My experience as a pharmacy student at the University has been fantastic due to the boundless learning opportunities for students. There are a lot of pharmacy-related events for students to get involved in, i.e. Conferences held by the British Pharmaceutical Student Association annually, talks by senior lecturers, Pharmacy Competitions, Pharmacy Ball etc.
