ITT Lecturer

I am very proud to say that I joined the team at the University of Sunderland three years ago and I am a lecturer in Initial Teacher Training. I have 19 years of primary teaching experience from Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and have led a variety of curriculum areas including DT, Art, Music and Phonics (Read Write Inc). I was also Key Stage 1 lead and part of my previous school's management team.

I have a wealth of experience and skills to support and develop trainee teachers, from practical ideas in the classroom, to planning, self reflection and behaviour management techniques and skills. I have a good understanding of a range of SEND needs and supporting and developing many children with social, emotional, physical and behavioural needs.

I support trainees on placement, have led enrichment programmes, lead modules and lectures and seminars, and support the teaching and development of phonics skills.

I teach on all of the BA (Hons) Primary Education programmes well as teach and support PGCE students.
