Senior Lecturer of Computer Science Education ITT
My journey into education began at University of Sunderland where I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Secondary Education in Computer Science.
My passion for teaching and working with children began when travelling and working in Maine, USA where I had the opportunity to teach a variety of sports to children from around the world. When I returned home, I began my career in education working as a teacher of computing, computer science, IT, digital technologies, and digital arts across a number of school and colleges in the north-east of England.
Through my time working in education, I specialised in teaching in further education. I gained experience in teacher training and developing curriculums across a multitude of digital technologies. I specialised in games design and development, teaching concept art, 2D animation and games concepts.
I gained my MA in Photography at University of Sunderland in 2016, specialising in portrait photography. My final degree work focused on the documentation surrounding visa requirements for marriage applications for people from different countries. Through this time, I travelled throughout the US, gathering documentation and creating a docuseries of first-hand experience of applications to apply for a visa in the UK.
In 2022, I joined Teesside University as lead tutor for PGCE Computer Science and Art and Design. I gained experience of programme leadership, delivery, and assessment of Level 6 and 7 modules and ITT placement supervision.
I joined University of Sunderland in 2023 where I work as a Senior Lecturer of Computer Science Education. I am passionate about helping students to find their own personal teaching style and inspiring future teachers to be excited about learning and education.
