Prior to working in education, I graduated from university in 2001 with an LLB (Hons) degree. In 2003, I went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, from which I qualified and worked as an Associate Solicitor.
I began my career in education after gaining my Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in 2008. I have worked as a teacher of mathematics across a number of different schools in the North East of England. I have worked in a variety of middle and senior leadership roles, including Lead Teacher, Lead Practitioner and Head of Department.
I have also worked as Subject Mentor for ITT students, NQTs and ECTs, and I am an expert examiner for EDEXCEL GCSE Mathematics.
In 2019 as part of my Lead Practitioner Role, I began to deliver subject specific and generic training sessions to PGCE students, which I was involved in until moving to the University of Sunderland in 2022.
I joined the University of Sunderland in January 2022 where I work as Senior Lecturer of Mathematics ITT. I am passionate about helping students to fulfill their full potential and become inspiring and creative teachers of mathematics.
