Senior Lecturer in Mathematics Education

I originally trained as a secondary mathematics teacher and taught in the North East for many years before joining the University some time ago. It is now very satisfying to hear positive feedback from current students visiting schools for observational experience about how effective former Sunderland trainees now are as practising teachers. In addition to my work as a teacher and lecturer, I have also been a senior A level examiner for both Mathematics and General Studies for many years.

Teaching and supervision

During my time at the University, I have been involved in the leadership of all of our mathematics education courses. I am currently Programme Leader for PGCE Mathematics and I also teach on BSc Mathematics Education.
