Deputy Head for Learning and Teaching

I am the Deputy Head for Learning and Teaching at the University of Sunderland. I am also the Programme and Module Leader for the PG Certificate in Academic Practice. I have worked in Higher Education since 2008, both on undergraduate and postgraduate courses. I have worked as a Senior Lecturer and Principal Lecturer and Programme Leader before my current post. I am a qualified Nurse who has worked in Accident and Emergency, District Nursing and as a Community Matron (Long Term Health Conditions).

I am in the final year of my PhD, focusing on Mnemonics, student memory and the factors effecting this. My role in Learning and Teaching, involves me championing teaching excellence in Higher Education.

Research

I am currently in the final year of my PhD which focuses on the factors surrounding the use of Mnemonics and Clinical information.
