Senior Lecturer in EAP
I am a Senior Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
I have a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) issued by Cambridge University and I'm currently course leader for academic writing for native speakers and essay writing for native speakers.
I graduated in 1994 from Newcastle University with a BSc in Geography and then completed my PGCE in Geography Education. I taught for 20 years in state secondary schools mainly in the north-east. My first role at the University was as PGCE Geography course leader and education lecturer.
I have many years of experience as a mentor in schools and the university, with additional experience as a learning coach working with teachers of all levels of experience to enhance their teaching.
I am passionate about all students being able to access the curriculum and demonstrate their academic skills, encouraging critical thinking and creativity.
