My research interests include Mad Studies, Disability Studies, and Mental Illness Recovery.
I am currently working on my PhD The Medicalization of Mental distress in Sunderland. A Mad Studies perspective.
Research
My PhD explores the disease prevalence rates of depression in the city of Sunderland, which has been reported to be the highest in the UK. The research is aligned to Mad Studies which seeks to cultivate new concepts and values of mental illness.
