Senior Lecturer in Social Work
I qualified with a Masters in Social Work in 2006 and practiced in a statutory setting for over 13 years. During this time, I worked with adults with a range of needs including physical, mental health and learning disabilities. I then specialised in Adult Safeguarding, first as a Senior Social Worker then as Governance and Safeguarding Manager.
I joined the University of Sunderland in November 2019. I have been a Practice Educator since 2013 and I'm taking on the role of Practice Placement Co-ordinator at the University, as well as Programme Leader for Practice Education in Social Work and Co-lead for Advanced Safeguarding Adults.
I continue to be involved in practice: working independently as a Court of Protection Visitor for the Office of the Public Guardian.
Teaching and supervision
I am Programme Leader for Practice Education in Social Work and Advanced Safeguarding Adults, as well as Placement Co-ordinator. I am also involved in teaching throughout the different modules, both on theĀ BA (Hons) and MA courses.
I am an External Examiner for Oxford Brookes on their Practice Education courses.
