Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice

I am a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. I graduated with an MPharm degree from Strathclyde University in 2004 before undertaking my pre-registration year with Boots in Glasgow.

After 11 years as a community pharmacy manager with large multiples and independent pharmacies, I made the transition to academia, joining the University of Sunderland in 2016.

I am currently module leader of the first year module, PHA113, An Introduction to the Professional Practice of Pharmacy'.

I completed my MSc in Clinical Pharmacy in 2019 and in May 2021 I began my part-time PhD at the University titled 'Improving experiences of Transgender patients within Community Pharmacies in the Northeast of England'.

Teaching and supervision

I teach pharmacy practice and clinical pharmacy across the MPharm and OSPAP courses. Most of my teaching is focused on preparing students for their pre-registration year, ensuring they have the broad skill set needed to practice as a pharmacist, including highly developed communication, interpersonal and managerial skills.

Research

In May 2021 I began my part-time PhD at the University titled 'Improving experiences of Transgender patients within Community Pharmacies in the Northeast of England'.
