Lecturer and Clinical Link Tutor

I am a Lecturer and Clinical Link Tutor for BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice. My background is predominately neurosurgical where I started my career in the QMC after completing my degree at The University of Nottingham. I took a year-long sabbatical from this job to work as a nurse in an HIV orphanage in South Africa.

On returning to the UK, Covid hit and I worked wrapped in plastic from head to toe on a Covid-positive ward, before relocating back up north when things appeared to have settled. Because relocating in Covid wasn’t enough of a challenge, I decided to undertake a new challenge in my nursing career, I spent just under a year working in a neonatal high-dependency unit. I learned a lot in this high-pressure environment but ultimately it helped me discover my love for teaching others and helped me recognise my passion lay in neurosurgery. I returned to a neuro ward at the RVI before applying for a role at the University.
