Senior Lecturer – MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner

I am a Senior Lecturer with the MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner apprentice team in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing.

My background is in Biomedical Science, graduating with a BSc (Hons) from Durham University and going on to complete my MSc Advanced Clinical Practice at Teesside University. I am a registered Biomedical Scientist with the HCPC before joining the University and worked for 11 years in the microbiology department of a busy NHS laboratory. During this time I progressed from Medical Laboratory Assistant to Senior Biomedical Scientist and following completion of my MSc, took on additional clinically led responsibilities, alongside maintaining a high level of technical responsibility within the laboratory.

My passions are training, advancing practice, and microbiology, and I am keen to pass on this passion for learning and improving to the students.

Teaching and supervision

I teach MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner Apprenticeship supporting our apprentice advanced clinical practitioners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours commensurate with the pillars of advanced clinical practice. I lead modules in:
