Senior Lecturer in Film Studies
I am a Senior Lecturer in Film Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries. I graduated from Wolverhampton Polytechnic with a first-class BA (Hons) in Humanities and from Aston University with a PhD in French Cinema. I then joined the University of Sunderland in 1989, when it was Sunderland Polytechnic, as a Lecturer in French.
From 2000-2003, I was redeployed into a Senior Lectureship in Film Studies. Between 2003 and 2005 I took a leave of absence to study Spanish cinema at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and from 2005 to 2015, I was Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Film and Media.
My research interests are rooted in European Film and Popular Culture, having evolved from an exclusively French focus to encompass aspects of contemporary Spanish culture.
