Senior Lecturer in Media Production and Digital Film

I am Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Film Production. I mainly teach scriptwriting with an interest in television and short film. My research interests are adaptation, short film, scriptwriting, and documentary.

Teaching and supervision

I teach across a range of different modules and I am module leader for:

  • Formats and Storytelling
  • Introduction to Screenwriting (short-form television)
  • Scriptwriting (short film)
  • Screenwriting for TV and Film (adaptation)

I also teach/have taught on MA Media Production (Film and Television), Television Studio, and Science Fiction and Fantasy Television. I currently supervise students on both the undergraduate and MA practical dissertation.

Research

My research is focused around scriptwriting and screenwriting. I am interested in representation and cultural identity, and these tend to form the main themes of my work. I explore the notion that issue-based stories can be received effectively through comedy or comedy drama.

I am part of a writer-led theatre company, which produces contemporary theatre performed in non-traditional settings.
