Programme Leader BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (Audiology)
I am a Registration Council for Clinical Physiologist (RCCP) registered Audiologist with 37 years experience in the National Health Service.
I started working in audiology in 1983 and worked as an NHS audiologist until 2016. During this time, I had a clinical workload that covered routine adult hearing diagnosis and hearing aid provision, balance testing and paediatric hearing testing. As my career progressed I specialised in working with adults with complex hearing aid needs, and also with patients suffering with tinnitus while still maintaining a routine clinical workload. This range of clinical experience forms the basis of the knowledge and clinical skills that I teach on the audiology and physiology courses.
Teaching and supervision
I teach and supervise in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences in the specialist areas of audiology.
I am Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Healthcare Sciences (audiology) and module lead for work-based learning modules and specialist modules for this course.
I am academic lead for student work-based placements on BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (audiology).
