Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences
Teaching and supervision
I specialise in haematology and blood transfusion. I am also involved in supporting student placements and apprenticeships.
Research interests for potential research students
Research
I have previously been involved in research around the characterisation and behaviour of particular red cell alloantibodies, the effects of pan-reactive autoantibodes in autoimmune haemolytic anaemia cases, and the use of molecular typing methods in transfusion.
I have had multiple papers published in Transfusion Medicine and Immunohaematology journals.
- Haematology
- Transfusion
- Molecular methods in blood transfusion
I am a member of the IBMS Special Advisory Panel for Transfusion and I am the IBMS Deputy Chief Examiner for Transfusion. I am a member of the NEQAS Blood Transfusion Laboratory Practice steering committee as the educational establishment representative. I remain an honorary scientific consultant at NHS Blood and Transplant and a HCPC-registered biomedical scientist.
