Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management

I joined Sunderland Business School as a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management (HRM) in 2023. I am the Deputy Programme Leader for MSc HRM.

I am the founder and leader of one of the biggest research clusters in the Faculty of Business, Law and Tourism, 'The People, Management, and Responsible Organisational Behaviour' research cluster. I also lead a team of well-experienced researchers from the world’s top-ranked Universities in France, Australia, China, Denmark, Finland, Bangladesh, Oman, Norway, and the UK, to publish high-quality research papers in the chartered association of business schools (CABS’) ranked journals.

I am also an Editorial Review Board Member in the Africa Journal of Management (AJoM) (CABS 2-STAR). I am also an Honorary Associate Advisor of the Faculty of Business Administration at EXIM Bank Agricultural University, Bangladesh.

Prior to this, I was a Senior Lecturer in leadership and management at Edge Hill University Business School. Before Edge Hill, I was a part-time lecturer in HRM at Teesside University Business School. I also worked as an academic tutor at the University of Sunderland Business School between 2012–2015. I was also a Lecturer in HRM and Organisational Behaviour, MBA Class, at the London College of Business, Birmingham Campus, in 2010.

I hold a PhD in Human Resource Development and Leadership Development Strategies from the University of Sunderland, and a master’s degree in HRM from Teesside University. I also hold a BSc (Hons) in Business Management from Ebonyi State University (EBSU) and a Diploma in Business Administration and Management (Distinction) from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), all in Nigeria.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Before moving to the UK for my postgraduate studies, I was a guest writer for the Ebonyi State Broadcasting Service (EBBS) radio station in Nigeria, where I wrote several exemplary news commentaries. I also worked in the Nigerian Public Sector.

My teaching interests are in the areas of HRM, Human Resource Development (HRD), organisational behaviour, leadership, and cross-cultural management. Currently, I teach the following modules:

Research

I am a multidisciplinary researcher and have published widely across HRM, HRD, leadership, organisational behaviour, organisational psychology, entrepreneurship, international business, innovation, and sustainability. I am also a reviewer for top management journals including the International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Management and Organisational Review, Group and Organisational Management, Africa Journal of Management, HRD International, and Journal of Knowledge Management.
