All new governors will receive an induction pack and access to an online repository of relevant information and material. This includes both external and internal documentation associated with governance at the University together with previous copies of Committee agendas, minutes and papers.
Induction meetings are arranged to provide new governors with opportunities to meet key role-holders, including members of the University Executive. Governors are invited to University academic events, graduation ceremonies, exhibitions, openings and celebratory activities throughout the year, which provide opportunities to broaden member’s knowledge of the wider University and academic context.
Visits to Faculties (and Services), including to the University’s campus in London, are also arranged as appropriate. Governor development will include participation in an annual strategic planning Governors’ Workshop focused on academic matters, with the University Executive, Pro Vice-Chancellors and Academic Deans.
Relevant Guidance and Codes of Practice that relate to governors’ roles and responsibilities are available on this website to support ongoing knowledge and development. As part of the University’s commitment to reduce paper through its Digital First strategy, Board and Committee papers are made available to members via the online governance website and governors are provided with iPads to access relevant documents in advance of each meeting.
