Joseph Sotimirin

Joseph is a third-year business and management student at the University. He has recently been elected as Chair of the Union Council and is excited to take on this new responsibility. 

He plans to use this position as well as his seat on the Board of Governors to improve the student experience as much as possible. 

Joseph says: "I moved to Sunderland from Manchester a few years back for university and I instantly loved the University and Students' Union. It has allowed me to develop a lot of key skills, meet new people and really come out of my shell.

I want to use my new position to ensure Sunderland keeps and improves its values of which I love so much. I want to make sure it continues to be a university where students feel they are at home, they are comfortable, where they can really develop themselves and feel like they can take on the world. When my term is over, I want to look back and see that I have made a difference."
